We buy graded numismatic coins. Similar to diamonds, coins also have an international recognized grading system. The two most popular and highly recognized companies are PCGS and NCG.  We also buy coins graded by IGC and ANACS.

Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS): represents one of the industry standards in third party grading companies, PCGS offers a guarantee of grading accuracy and authenticity for each coin they encapsulate and grade. PCGS certifies coins from over 100 countries.  California Gold & Silver Exchange is  an authorized dealer for PCGS, so we are able to submit coins to PCGS for our customers.

 Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC): is the world’s largest and one of the highly trusted third-party grading services.  NGC provides impartial grading and authentication for United States and Foreign coins for a fee. They have graded more than 37 million coins.  NGC backs their accuracy with their NGC Guarantee. California Gold & Silver Exchange is an NGC Authorized Dealer.

Both PCGS and NGC are the two most highly recognized coin grading companies.  They grade their coins on a scale of 1-70. 1 being the lowest grade, 70 being the highest grade.

CGSE purchases both PGCS and NGC certified coins. We also purchase coins graded by other grading companies, however their grading standards are not as strict and accurate as PCGS and NGC.
